NATIONAL CHILD DAY COMMUNITY STAKEHOLDER MEETING MAY 28

NATIONAL CHILD DAY COMMUNITY STAKEHOLDER MEETING

Monday, May 28 from 2:30 – 4pm at St. Anthony’s Meeting Centre (10425 – 84 Ave)

“It’s Our Right to an Identity” is the theme for the 2018 National Child Day.  Each and every child has the right to an identity, whether it is their own name, culture, religion, belief, orientation or expression. Unfortunately, even though all children have these rights stated by the United Nation Convention on the Rights of the Child, sometimes they aren’t able to exercise these rights.   In this free, interactive and collaborative community stakeholder meeting, we’ll learn more about children’s rights to identity from the John Humphrey Centre for Peace and Human Rights, discuss challenges faced in ensuring children’s rights, and brainstorm how these challenges can be overcome.
